very interesting colour. But a few anatomical problems make this quite confusing. Looking just at the body, she appears to be facing the viewer, with the arm on the right covering her chest. The arm holding the fan is a little spidery to me though, and a bit long, especially considering the feet she has. If I remember correctly, the sleeve remains roughly the same thickness all the way to the body, and doesn't taper off as it does here. So, it would look more like a rectangle, than a triangle. Do you know what I mean? Also, I don't think the back of the collar goes in a v-shape like that. I think it actually raises up, and is more horizontal.
It's a nice style though, and I think you've achieved some amazing colouring here. Just maybe use some good reference pics next time.
Thanks for the comments! I have to agree with you, there are a lot of mistakes or sorta mistakes. I actually drew this a while ago, and didn't change the mistakes because I figure they make her look creepy, which she's supposed to. Also, I had a hard time finding reference pictures when I drew it, resulting in me having to guess on a lot of bits, like the back. I think you're right about that, that the colar is all wrong. I don't really notice what you're talking about with her body looking like it's facing the camera, but maybe it's because I'm so familiar with it that I _know_ that you're just seeing the kimono tucked into the obi in the back, not her arm covering her chest.
some anime are great sources for kimono art. Firstly, because it's actually from Japan, and not some artist who may have seen one or two, and secondly, they are already in a lineart form, so interpreting the shapes can be easier. They are so hard to draw though, because there are so many layers (in a full kimono anyway)
I think making her look creepy must have been tough though. Maybe having her hair down might have helped (I'm thinking of Ringu or Juon).
I try to use references as much as I can these days. But most of my drawing time is between or during lectures at uni
